Shelter Monitor

The Shelter Monitor provides critical support to clients in shelter facilities, ensuring a safe and orderly environment. This role involves monitoring daily shelter activities, enforcing program rules, and performing electronic bed assignments and shelter intake processes.
Key Responsibilities- Perform computer/web-based bed check-in and intake process for all clients during overnight and evening shifts, providing referrals as needed.
- Conduct hourly facility rounds, logging entries throughout assigned shifts via computer and/or web-based systems.
- Provide urgent reports to supervisors or managers via phone for potential or existing program concerns or emergencies related to clients, staff, and/or facility safety/security.
- Maintain ongoing communication with team members, supervisors, and management staff to ensure client and staff safety.
- Provide crisis intervention for clients, including conflict resolution, de-escalation, CPR, first aid, and administering NARCAN as appropriate.
- Assist with client, staff, and facility issues using superior customer service skills, utilizing CPI de-escalation approaches and incident reporting.
- Enforce established program rules and regulations, mediating and resolving conflicts among shelter guests.
- Enhance the client experience by creating a hospitable and customer-oriented environment.
- Report facility maintenance needs to supervisors or assigned program staff, utilizing web-based portals or internal reporting processes.
- Assist with shelter storage area maintenance, reporting supply inventory needs to responsible supervisors or assigned staff.
- Provide safe storage and access for clients' self-administration of medication, as needed.
- Participate in emergency facility drills, such as fire drills, lockdowns, and environmental hazard drills.
- Distribute supplies and in-kind donations to clients, including emergency food, clothing, and hygiene supplies.
- Assist with receipt of daily delivered guest meals, providing SERV Safe monitoring and meal quality status reports to funders via web-based systems.
- Maintain facility cleanliness, including sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, and cleaning surfaces.
- Participate in the program's quarterly quality improvement process to deliver and improve operations and best practices on site.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Six months of experience in the human service or customer service field, preferably with persons who have experienced homelessness.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
