Position Overview

Role Summary: The Financial Operations Manager is responsible for directing all aspects of financial management, including accounting practices, financial strategy, and reporting. This role ensures the integrity of financial operations and compliance, playing a critical part in the organization's financial health. Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Owner.

Authority: The Financial Operations Manager has the authority to hire staff and/or engage external accounting services as needed to meet organizational goals and budgetary constraints. This role includes delegating responsibilities and ensuring accountability for performance.

Employment Status: Full Time – Salary Exempt

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general accounting functions, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies, and meeting all deadlines.
  • Manage the annual budgeting process, interim forecasts, pricing strategies, and cash flow management.

  • Advise on financial strategies and improvements to ensure the company's profitability and financial strength.
  • Handle project invoicing, payments, and final billing processes.
  • Generate project status reports comparing budgeted figures to actual performance.
  • Oversee credit and collections to optimize cash flow and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Develop and maintain procurement and payment policies in collaboration with design and production teams.
  • Manage contracts and invoicing procedures with trade partners.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with tax obligations and manage tax reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with a focus on accounting; professional certification is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with leadership roles in construction accounting.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Buildertrend and Smartsheet is advantageous.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to motivate and negotiate with diverse groups.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and a positive attitude towards teamwork and leadership.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with the ability to travel locally as needed.
