Job Overview

SUMMARY
Responsible for managing and guiding team members to ensure that daily operations are executed safely, efficiently, and within the established timeframe.

Must possess the ability to interpret isometric drawings to determine the location, orientation, size, and diameter of piping or other equipment, along with other responsibilities related to the installation and maintenance of piping systems.

Key responsibilities may include layout planning, fabrication, assembly, installation, and upkeep of piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and associated hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for various systems including steam, heating, cooling, and production processes.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determines the appropriate type and size of piping and related materials and equipment based on project specifications.
  • Evaluates the worksite to identify potential obstructions.
  • Strategizes the installation sequence to circumvent obstructions and coordinate with other workers.
  • Cuts piping using various tools including hacksaws, pipe cutters, and cutting torches.
  • Threads pipes utilizing threading machines.
  • Bends pipes manually or with the aid of pipe-bending machinery.
  • Installs pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings to secure piping.
  • Assembles and installs a variety of metal or non-metal pipes and fittings using various joint methods and hand tools.
  • Secures pipes to structures using brackets, clamps, and hangers with hand and power tools.
  • Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, and associated controls and piping.
  • Conducts leak tests on piping systems by increasing pressure and monitoring gauges for leak indications.
  • Welds pipe supports to structural steel components.
  • May monitor production machinery in the assigned area to identify malfunctions and may operate machinery to confirm repairs.
  • Handles the loading, transportation, and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • May assist in the lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and components during installation.
  • Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and project regulations, performing additional duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with relevant experience in the field or a related area. Familiarity with commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the industry is essential. The role requires planning of personal work and delegation of tasks to team members to ensure timely, safe, and efficient completion of duties. Independent judgment is necessary for daily operations, reporting to a site General Foreman and/or Site Manager.
