SUMMARY

The Insulation Supervisor is responsible for applying, removing, and repairing insulation on various mechanical systems, including equipment, pipes, and ductwork. This role is essential for controlling noise levels and maintaining optimal temperatures in facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interprets blueprints, instructions, and documentation to plan work activities effectively.
• Selects and determines the appropriate insulation materials, such as fiberglass, foam rubber, or urethane, based on their thermal retention properties and application requirements.
• Organizes materials and equipment at work sites, ensuring a safe and efficient setup.
• Seals and finishes insulated surfaces using various materials, including plastic covers and sealants.
• Shapes and fits insulation around obstacles, ensuring proper coverage and protection.
• Installs protective sheet metal around insulated pipes to safeguard against environmental damage.
• Measures and cuts insulation materials accurately using various tools.
• Prepares surfaces for insulation by applying adhesives or attaching metal pins as needed.
• Secures insulation using preformed covers and sealants, adhering to safety and structural guidelines.
• Adheres to hazardous waste handling protocols and safety regulations.
• May involve the removal or sealing of old asbestos insulation, following established safety procedures.
• Maintains records, tools, and equipment, and participates in cleanup activities.
• Ensures compliance with safety standards and project rules, including the use of personal protective equipment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work within precise accuracy standards.
• Proficient in applying mathematical concepts to solve practical problems.
• Skilled in planning work and selecting appropriate tools.
• Adept at comparing and distinguishing differences in sizes, shapes, and forms.
• Capable of visualizing objects in three dimensions from technical drawings.
• Ability to make decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Comfortable working at heights.

QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with relevant experience in the insulation field or a related area. Familiarity with industry concepts, practices, and procedures is essential. The role typically operates under direct supervision, with primary functions not requiring independent judgment.
