POSITION SUMMARY

The Safety and Security Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting all personnel within the organization by evaluating information and analyzing situations to determine appropriate actions regarding: life safety, emergency security scenarios, and overall security operations including police/security officer presence. Ensures operational integrity by monitoring, observing, responding to, and documenting incidents, errors, and security gaps. Functions as the alarm monitoring center for all company properties, responding to and dispatching for alarms and issues with surveillance systems. Collaborates with the Security Team and external service providers for maintenance, repairs, and problem resolution. Records and reports incidents and resolutions through service tickets, incident documentation, and established procedures. Provides after-hours support as the primary security contact for all locations.

THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN ST LOUIS, MISSOURI.

This is a full-time position. Candidates must be adaptable to work shifts Monday-Sunday between 6am-10pm, with potential overnight hours.

This position is on-site (not hybrid). Most shifts will be at our Store Support Center, with some shifts occurring directly in our stores.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver end-user support for the prevention, detection, and apprehension of criminal activities in and around company properties to enhance overall safety and security. Utilize security technologies such as video management systems, alert systems, and surveillance alerts to identify, document, and respond to criminal incidents.
  • Act as the primary contact for all emergency and non-emergency calls to the Asset Protection Hotline. Respond promptly and effectively to all emergency situations, instructing stores, alerting security personnel, coordinating Behavioral Health Response for complex situations, and involving law enforcement as necessary.
  • Conduct physical surveillance of potential dishonest employees and Organized Retail Crime suspects on-site when assigned. Undertake additional assignments and special projects as directed by asset protection management.
  • Review video footage of past or recent incidents and document findings using the Loss Prevention Management System.
  • Address all reported security staffing discrepancies to ensure that all third-party security posts are filled as scheduled. Serve as a resource for security-related inquiries and advise management on policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Serve as a liaison for law enforcement agencies to assist in ongoing investigations, apply for warrants, and represent the company in court when required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Security or surveillance monitoring experience is essential. Front-line retail experience, particularly in grocery, is highly preferred.
  • Years of Experience: 1 to 3 years.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge
    • Familiarity with Google applications, Loss Prevention Management Systems, Video Management Systems, and other security technology resources.
    • Proficient reporting techniques.
    • Understanding of security and safety policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Knowledge of shoplifting behaviors and techniques.
    • De-escalation strategies.
  • Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to manage potentially stressful situations while providing direction over the phone to store and facility teams.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Capability to work effectively under limited supervision and make sound decisions regarding policy application.
    • Ability to multitask, monitoring multiple systems while handling phone calls and compiling case documentation.
    • Ability to obtain the necessary security license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work primarily involves sitting, with occasional walking and standing.
  • Lifting requirements: 25 to 50 lbs.
  • Travel: 26-50%.
  • Work Environment: The majority of time will be spent at the Security Operations Center, monitoring computer screens and answering the Asset Protection hotline. Occasional assignments may require being present in stores, which may involve walking and standing for extended periods.
  • Work hours may extend beyond normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, primarily within the hours of 6am-10pm, with potential for authorized overtime.
