About the Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Illinois Chicago. As a key member of the Department of Medicine, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to advancing the field of infectious diseases.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Division, aligning with the goals of the Department of Medicine and the University.
  • Manage the Division's budget and resources, ensuring financial sustainability and effective allocation.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance clinical care, research, education, and community outreach.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Division and the broader medical community.
  • Serve as attending physician for resident- and fellow-supported inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Supervise advanced care practitioners, fellows, residents, and medical students.
  • Actively engage in and support investigator-led national, federally-funded cutting-edge clinical research.
  • Publish and present research findings in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Recruit, oversee, and mentor a team of ID specialists with expertise in general ID, transplant ID, infection prevention, and more.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to nurture and grow a vibrant and engaged ID Fellowship Training Program.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (DO)
  • Unrestricted State of Illinois Physician/Surgeon License or eligible to obtain upon offer
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Board Certified in Infectious Diseases
  • Regional or national recognition is expected
