Key Responsibilities:
- Provide analytical support to the Commercial Team through fundamental and financial assessments, financial modeling, and risk management strategy analysis.
- Conduct in-depth research on diverse commodities, collecting data on supply and demand dynamics, geopolitical influences, weather conditions, and economic indicators affecting commodity pricing.
- Analyze both historical and real-time data to identify trends, correlations, and anomalies, producing reports and insights for the commercial trading team.
- Develop and maintain supply and demand forecasts, market trends, and related opinions.
- Prepare and deliver clear and concise reports summarizing market analysis findings, including strategic recommendations for trading and risk management.
- Engage directly with customers and suppliers in trade support and marketing/procurement functions.
- Manage market risk associated with specific customers, vendors, or suppliers.
- Monitor and evaluate risk positions, both physical and financial, identifying opportunities to enhance profit and mitigate loss.
- Generate profit and loss estimates for various trading positions and portfolios.
- Execute financial hedges, liaising with external brokers and internal stakeholders to minimize company exposure.
- Stay informed about the competitive and evolving biofuel market landscape and assess how potential changes may affect the organization, including regulatory shifts.
- Collaborate with other departments, including accounting, FP&A, risk, and logistics, to remain updated on market developments and their implications for trading strategies.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and company policies in all activities.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required, as the above list is not exhaustive.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
- 0 to 3+ years of experience in commodity analysis, trading, or a related support role.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, statistical software, data visualization tools).
- Demonstrated analytical, quantitative, and modeling skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic programming knowledge (SQL, VBA, Python, etc.) is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A genuine interest in commodities markets and a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic trading environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, meet deadlines, and manage high-pressure situations.
- A proactive and results-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including frequent sitting, computer use, and telephone communication.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
