About the Role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking a highly skilled Risk Specialist to join our Surveillance and Risk Analysis (SRA) Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring banking industry performance, analyzing emerging risks, and providing insightful presentations to senior management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor banking industry performance and emerging risks, preparing written summaries and presentations for staff and senior management.
  • Contribute to and/or lead department's quantitative responsibilities through the creation and maintenance of tools and reports designed to monitor banking institutions.
  • Leverage knowledge of current financial trends and risks facing the banking industry to create insightful presentations and speaking notes for senior management external engagements.
  • May support or participate in a limited number of bank examinations and bank holding company inspections.
  • May participate on Federal Reserve System groups reviewing regulatory and industry matters.
Requirements
  • Typically requires a minimum of six year's relevant experience or a minimum of four year's relevant bank examiner experience.
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in economics, business, or finance.
  • An ideal candidate for this position will display a great deal of initiative and agility in their analysis of complex subject matter with an appetite for finding creative and innovative ways to solve problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience delivering messages to large audiences and/or executive management.
  • Demonstrates the ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships.
  • Good understanding of financial markets and the banking industry.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to apply, interpret, and explain complex financial and/or quantitative concepts as well as the ability to analyze the potential impact of financial shocks, stress, or regulatory changes.
  • Some proficiency and a desire to work heavily with MS Excel (particularly macros/visual basics), Tableau and SQL. Experience with R and/or Python is a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) are a plus but not required.
Additional Information

Locations: Hybrid, 50% on-site requirement. Omaha, NE, Denver, CO, Oklahoma City, OK, or Kansas City, MO. Not eligible for remote work.

Salary: Risk Specialist: $92,900-$207,600. Examiner: $92,400- $206,900.
