Position Overview

The City of Pearland, TX is looking for a dedicated full-time Engineering Associate to enhance and oversee various functions within our Engineering & Public Works division. The Engineering Associate receives a competitive salary ranging from $66,280.45 to $84,507.57 annually, depending on qualifications. In addition, the city covers all premiums for dental, long-term disability, and life insurance for employees, as well as a significant portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We also provide a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) featuring a 2:1 employer match, along with life insurance, disability coverage, access to the city's fitness center, an employee assistance program, educational support, 11 paid holidays plus 2 designated paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and a comprehensive wellness program focusing on physical, mental, and financial well-being.

A DAY IN THE ROLE OF ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE

  • Evaluates and provides feedback on submitted residential, commercial, and infrastructure construction plans and various engineering permits; communicates necessary corrections to applicants; meets with applicants individually as required.
  • Assesses and comments on submitted plats; collaborates with external agencies to ensure compliance with overlapping standards and regulations.
  • Delivers customer service on behalf of the Engineering Department to applicants, developers, engineers, city staff, and consultants to address development and permit concerns.
  • Coordinates the review and approval of Building Elevation Certificates.
  • Supplies floodplain information to residents, developers, and engineers as needed according to the City's Standard Operating Procedure for Floodplain Requests.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in civil engineering.
  • Engineer in Training Certification or the ability to obtain EIT within 6 months of employment.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Certification is preferred or can be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
