Overview

The primary objective of this role is to assist members and potential members in accessing the comprehensive suite of products and services provided by Navy Federal Credit Union. This includes various deposit accounts such as checking, savings, and certificates, as well as lending options and credit/debit cards.

This position involves executing moderately complex banking operations under guidance and providing support and training to junior team members.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve issues and discrepancies related to member accounts and loans.
  • Guide members through the process of submitting applications for consumer, mortgage, equity loans, overdraft protection, and credit cards.
  • Advise current and prospective members regarding Navy Federal's offerings.
  • Ensure proper handling of cash and other negotiable instruments.
  • Identify opportunities to promote additional products and enhance service utilization.
  • Perform essential banking functions.
  • Support junior team members.
  • Comply with federal regulations and other guidelines concerning financial products and services.
  • May assist with vault operations, including opening, closing, and balancing procedures.
  • May act as a custodian for the Branch Office and/or ATM vault.
  • Execute other assigned tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with savings and checking products, accounts, and services.
  • Participation in specialized training may be required based on business needs.
  • Strong active listening skills to effectively address inquiries and account requests.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
  • Proficient research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships through rapport, trust, and diplomacy.
  • Capacity to exercise initiative and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in navigating multiple screens and PC applications while adapting to new technologies.
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in member or customer service, preferably in a call center, retail banking, or financial institution.
  • Experience in a credit union setting.
