Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Operations Leader is tasked with overseeing all production activities at the Aprinnova/Leland facility. This role is crucial for achieving production targets while maintaining a secure working environment.

Collaboration across various departments is essential to ensure uniformity in the application of site-wide processes, as well as working closely with business teams and clients to meet financial and scheduling objectives.

The Manufacturing Operations Leader is responsible for supervising production, maintenance, and the Planning, Organizing, Implementing, and Controlling (POIC) of all construction and engineering operations.

This position involves direct management of the engineering team, ensuring compliance with production goals and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and uphold a safe working environment by engaging in safety initiatives, participating in committees, and conducting safety assessments.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures in line with ISO 22716-Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for cosmetics. Take necessary actions to suspend or rectify any activities that may endanger employees, the community, the environment, or equipment.
  • Manage all plant operations in accordance with company policies and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide engineering support for both new and existing products requiring new equipment or engineering evaluations to sustain production and quality standards.
  • Develop and meet operational objectives, including production costs and timelines, while collaborating with department heads to oversee operational budgets.
  • Ensure effective operations planning and budget forecasting; analyze, track, and report on operational strategies, production goals, and process enhancements.
  • Regularly compile and disseminate key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform management and stakeholders of performance against objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to all Safety, Health, and Environmental regulatory standards. Work with plant personnel across departments to facilitate smooth communication and implementation of changes.
  • Engage with key personnel outside the site and coordinate with external contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Manage direct reports in alignment with company policies, including conducting performance evaluations and necessary disciplinary actions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • At least 4 years of engineering experience in reaction, hydrogenation, distillation, or related process engineering fields.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in plant operations or management, preferably within the chemical sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in documentation for record-keeping and presentations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at various organizational levels.
  • Availability to work as needed to meet operational goals and respond to plant emergencies.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling, climb, bend, stoop, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently communicates verbally and must occasionally lift or move up to 65 pounds. This position may expose the employee to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The ability to wear a respirator is essential.

This role requires 100% on-site presence with no remote work options available.

Amyris is dedicated to equitable compensation practices. The annual salary range for this position is $102,500 to $159,000, determined by internal equity and market analysis, and will vary based on the candidate's skills, experience, and specific work location.
