Shipyard Laborer

This role involves performing general labor work to support marine and shipyard operations, including climbing onto barges, opening and closing barge lids, and walking on slippery surfaces.

Physical and mental demands of the job include:

• Climbing ladders and steps up to 25 feet
• Walking long distances throughout the work shift
• Working in tight, enclosed spaces
• Wearing personal protective equipment, including a life vest, safety shoes, and hearing protection

The position requires effective written and verbal communication, as well as the ability to read and understand safety manuals and other written material.

Additionally, the role involves:

• Operating diesel and gas engines, generators, compressors, and winches
• Lifting and carrying steel pieces and fittings weighing up to 60 pounds
• Sledge hammering and using other hand-held tools
