Strategic Procurement Category Manager

In the role of Strategic Procurement Category Manager at PPL Services Corporation, you will take charge of formulating negotiation tactics, conducting market assessments, overseeing the supply chain operations, and discovering new procurement sources. You will serve as the corporate authority for your designated category and function as the main point of contact for suppliers. Additionally, you may be required to fulfill an emergency and storm role, which could necessitate after-hours availability during critical situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate negotiation tactics and establish company stances on intricate contracts.
  • Conduct market and financial assessments to reduce business risks.
  • Investigate and resolve claims and disputes related to procurement activities.
  • Oversee the complete supply chain process from specification through to execution.
  • Discover new procurement sources and cultivate professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Act as the primary contact for suppliers within the assigned categories.
Required Qualifications - Intermediate Category Manager
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline OR 5 years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in services procurement.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and market conditions related to the specified services.
Required Qualifications - Senior Category Manager
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline OR 8 years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in services procurement.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and market conditions related to products, equipment, and services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the Electric and Gas Utility supply chain.
  • Certification as a Purchasing Manager or equivalent Supply Chain Certification.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish credibility with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
