Job Summary

The Leasing Agent Position is a non-supervisory role that involves leasing apartments and assisting with resident and employee relations. This position performs routine clerical work of average difficulty, including taking initial applications for housing, rent collection, and re-certification of tenants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issues lease violations and monitors curb appeal for residents at assigned developments.
  • Addresses client needs, eligibility, in compliance with Fair Housing Laws and Resident Selection Plan.
  • Tours apartments with clients, discussing benefits of the apartment community and each apartment shown.
  • Explains application procedures and lease contract to clients.
  • Processes applications in a timely manner through the property's database.
  • Types leases, enters leasing and traffic information on logs.
  • Types weekly, monthly, and special reports as designated by the Assistant Community Manager or Community Manager.
  • Receives deposit and rent money, records appropriately.
  • Welcomes new residents, assists with smooth move-in process.
  • Processes resident transfers.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures, including those related to other Non-Profit communities.
  • Completes requests from residents using proper forms and/or software.
  • Communicates clearly with maintenance staff regarding duties and responsibilities.
  • Acknowledges and assists residents with a positive and friendly tone.
  • Consults with Community/Assistant Manager if policy exception is needed.
  • Aids Community/Assistant Manager as directed, assisting with paperwork, touring property, vacancy issues, and policy compliance.
  • Assumes responsibilities of the Community/Assistant Manager in their absence.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.

Requirements:

  • High School or GED, with experience in lieu of a degree accepted on a one-for-one basis.
  • One year of experience in apartment leasing and marketing fundamentals.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours/days and weekends.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check, education, and work history verification, and drug screening test.

Working Environment:

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computer equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Sense of Sound (answering phone, fire alarms, horns)

Assignment Details:

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; some Saturdays

Location: Varied locations around San Antonio, Texas
