Clinical Responsibilities:
The Advanced Practice Provider is expected to possess extensive clinical expertise in palliative care.
Provide mentorship to physicians and nursing staff, enhancing the primary care team's effectiveness.
Perform comprehensive medical and psychosocial assessments for patients and their families.
Maintain an active role in various ICUs, executing palliative care protocols.
Establish and implement screening methodologies for ICU palliative consultations.
Facilitate discussions regarding care objectives with ICU teams.
Independently manage follow-ups on patient consultations and symptom alleviation.
Engage in ICU rounds.
Conduct consultations across the hospital, including the Emergency Department.
Educational Responsibilities:
Formulate policies, procedures, and protocols related to palliative care.
Deliver in-service training sessions focused on Palliative Care.
Educate students and residents on the Palliative Care consult service.
Supervise Advanced Practice Nurse students.
Additional Activities:
Participate in regular meetings with the Palliative Medicine Medical Director.
Commit to ongoing Palliative Care education.
Engage in nursing department committees.
Lead or contribute to special projects as necessary.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education:
- Required: Master's Degree
- Specify Degree(s): Advanced Practice Nurse
- Required: At least 1 year of experience in inpatient Palliative Medicine.
- Required:
- CPR – Basic Life Support
- Nursing – Current Registered Nurse License - State of Georgia
- Nursing – National advanced practice certification in adult, geriatrics, or family practice is preferred – State of Georgia
