Programmer Intern Opportunity

BAE Systems USA is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Programmer Intern to join our Software Solutions Team within our IT Program Area. As a Programmer Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and other students in the program.

The Opportunity

As a Programmer Intern, you will be responsible for building and coding applications and/or modules using languages such as Java, C#, visual basic, ABAP, PHP, SQL, and XTML. You will also prepare operating instructions, compile documentation of program development, and analyze system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Building and coding applications and/or modules using various programming languages
  • Preparing operating instructions and compiling documentation of program development
  • Analyzing system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls
  • Providing patches and upgrades to existing systems
  • Building add-on modules using application program language

Requirements

  • Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college/university with a minimum of two years towards a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or other related degree
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant field of specialization
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, etc.)
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Experience with Java, PHP, C/C#, SQL, Object-Oriented Analysis & Design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Java development
  • Familiarity with algorithm development, object-oriented programming, software testing, software engineering disciplines and processes, relational database concepts, and configuration management

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $44,660 - $60,280

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
