Department Highlights

Position Summary
The Good Samaritan Society is looking for a dedicated and flexible Certified Medication Aide to join our team in a travel capacity. This role offers the chance to work across various GSS locations, providing essential care while enjoying competitive pay, mileage reimbursement, and flexibility without the need for a contract. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of age-appropriate care and be able to address both the physical and emotional needs of residents as outlined in their care plans.
Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, and obtaining vital signs, as well as providing psycho-social support. The Medication Aide will also help residents with mobility and perform range of motion exercises. Additionally, this role involves tasks related to meal preparation and ensuring a positive dining experience.
As part of the responsibilities, the Medication Aide will administer prescribed medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse, document care outcomes, and communicate any changes in resident conditions to the charge nurse. The role may also involve collecting non-invasive specimens and providing housekeeping support to maintain clean living environments.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but not mandatory. Candidates should be at least 18 years old, with prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care being advantageous. Completion of yearly competency testing and continuing education credits is required, along with maintaining all necessary certifications.
Specific state requirements include:
- North Dakota and Iowa: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- Minnesota: Nursing assistant certification and completion of a 75-hour course required.
- South Dakota: Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course.
