Job Overview
Roessel Joy is looking to hire a dedicated Medical Billing Clerk. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of medical coding and billing practices within a healthcare setting, familiarity with medical terminology, and experience with relevant software systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and submit Medicare and Medicaid claims accurately, adhering to payer guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Assist in generating monthly billing and accounts receivable reports.
  • Maintain thorough and precise billing and accounts receivable documentation.
  • Notify management of any missing or late documents necessary for billing processes.
  • Support the collection of receivables by tracking accounts, resubmitting invoices for overdue accounts, and informing the billing manager of significantly overdue accounts.
  • Ensure effective reimbursement through proficient billing and collections practices and robust accounts receivable management.
  • Maintain billing and patient account systems in compliance with accepted accounting principles and relevant regulations.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of payer contracts to ensure accurate billing according to contractual obligations.
  • Stay informed on government billing regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid, and serve as a resource for organizational staff.
  • Compile and present key billing data to the Finance Director.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to reconcile billing system reports with the general ledger.
  • Oversee the billing information system, ensuring familiarity with system updates and enhancements.
  • Foster positive relationships with patients, their families, payers, and referral sources.
  • Conduct pre-billing audits to verify documentation accuracy.
  • Generate monthly reports detailing revenues, expenses, accounts receivable, and collections.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including specific projects related to billing, data entry, and operational tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable or healthcare data entry, preferably within home health care.
  • At least 1 year of experience in healthcare billing, ideally in home health care.
  • Familiarity with McKesson software or exposure to various billing software systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with proficient business telephone etiquette.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications.

Additional Requirements:
Candidates should possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including experience with formulas and pivot tables. Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite is advantageous. A strong ability to prioritize tasks, coupled with excellent customer service skills, is essential. Knowledge of three-way matching of purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices is preferred. Ideal candidates will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and demonstrate keen attention to detail.
