Position Overview

Role Summary:
The Associate Teacher plays a vital role within a collaborative teaching team, assisting the Lead Teacher in the preparation, planning, and execution of daily activities in the Head Start classroom. This includes fostering relationships with families, stepping into the Teacher's role during planning sessions and occasional absences, and adhering to the Head Start Performance Standards. The Associate Teacher also engages with families to encourage their involvement in the program. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on program needs and individual areas of expertise. This position works closely with the Teacher to achieve the program's objectives and may require reassignment to different classrooms or centers as necessary for operational effectiveness.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Prior experience working with preschool-aged children and possession of a CDA credential.
  2. An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, with a preference for candidates having two years of relevant experience. Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are advantageous.
  3. Must acquire and maintain Basic First Aid and CPR Certification, along with any necessary training for certification and licensing.
  4. Successful completion of tuberculosis and drug screening, a clear criminal background check, and an initial health examination are required post-offer and prior to employment.
  5. Preference will be given to current and former Head Start employees, students, and parents who meet the qualifications for available positions.

Application Process: Interested candidates must complete and submit an online application through the Saginaw Intermediate School District's portal. In addition to the online application, applicants are required to submit a cover letter, resume, at least three (3) letters of recommendation, and copies of academic transcripts.
