Laboratory Support Specialist

**About the Role:**

The estimated salary for this position is $40,000 - $50,000 per year, based on location and experience.
**Responsibilities and Expectations:**
">- Provides quality customer service in each patient interaction by providing instruction, emotional support, or other patient care to obtain specimens.
- Receives and handles laboratory specimens, equipment, and supplies.
- Delivers samples and supplies to various laboratory departments.
- Prepares specimen or fluid samples to transport from the collection site to laboratories.
- Use designated carrier service to send specimens at the end of each shift.
- Assists with inventory control of laboratory supplies.
- Performs basic office and clerical duties as assigned.
- Assists laboratory personnel as needed.
- Performs basic laboratory tests as directed.
- Correct utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assists in maintaining a clean laboratory work environment.
- Dispose of unused specimens in accordance with clinic protocol and applicable laws, standards, or policies.
- Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment, and risk control.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CLIA, COLA, and CAP regulatory requirements.
**Requirements and Qualifications:**
">- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, biology, or a relevant field preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy certification may be required per state/contract.
- One year experience working in a laboratory setting preferred.
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR if applicable.
- TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including but not limited to supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
