Patient Service Representative

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing exceptional patient service and administrative support to our healthcare team. As a Patient Service Representative, you will be the first point of contact for patients, answering phone calls, responding to messages, and providing accurate information to ensure a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer phone calls, respond to messages, and provide accurate information to patients and healthcare providers.
- Schedule patient appointments, register patients, and update demographic data in our registration system.
- Obtain insurance cards, forms of ID, and signatures on required forms, and verify insurance information to determine coordination of benefits.
- Collect patient payments, provide accurate receipts, and post payments in our system.
- Maintain department and individual work queues, and report as required.
- Prepare medical records for patient appointments, and accurately scan medical records as required.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Healthcare, and abide by service behavior standards.
Requirements:
- One year of customer service experience involving interactions with customers in person and by phone.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements:
- Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
- Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
- See and read computer monitors and documents.
- Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
- May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
