Job Overview
Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in the Portland area. Our hospital team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in various fields of medicine, including Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, and Ophthalmology. We are supported by dedicated technicians and support staff.

We are seeking experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians to join our ICU team. This role offers 312-hour shifts, and we prefer candidates with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in ER/ICU settings.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and caring for hospitalized and critical patients.
  • Performing diagnostic tests and procedures, and alerting DVMs of abnormal results.
  • Administering medications and treatments as directed by DVMs.
  • Providing support and education to pet owners.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records using Smartflow and EzyVet software.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A valid certification as a Veterinary Technician in Oregon (CVT).
  • Prior experience in a specialty veterinary hospital required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure.
  • Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills, including advanced intravenous and arterial catheter and sampling line placement skills preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medications and potential drug interactions.
  • Confident use of Vasopressors and CRI calculations.
  • Foundation of common lifesaving procedures, including chest taps, urinary deobstruction, blood transfusions, and CPR.
  • Assisting and monitoring of surgical and sedated procedures, including management of high-risk ASA patients. Additional anesthesia training provided.
