Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers and conductors to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
- Oversee the operation of locomotives and trains to ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety plans and procedures to minimize risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with safety, training, and compliance managers to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Manage and oversee locomotive engineer and conductor certification requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Provide written and oral reports to management on safety performance and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Locomotive Engineer Certification.
- Completed an approved GCOR Training Program in the last 3 years.
- 2 years of experience as a supervisor for an FRA regulated railroad.
- 7 years' experience as a railroad engineer for an FRA regulated railroad.
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Work prolonged periods on your feet in the shop environment or outdoors.
- Occasional periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Must have a valid California Driver's License with a good driving record and no DUI's within the last 3 years.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination, including a drug test.
- Able to work 24/7.
- A competitive salary range of $88,000 to $132,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Eligibility for Railroad Retirement benefits.
