Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients in selecting frames that complement their facial structure and personal style.
- Make adjustments to frames for comfort and fit.
- Educate clients on the functionality and care of eyewear products.
- Assess patient prescriptions to meet visual needs for both work and leisure.
- Inspect frames and lenses for quality and alignment before dispensing.
- Guide patients in frame selection based on their optical prescriptions.
- Instruct clients on the proper use and maintenance of eyeglasses.
- Train new contact lens users on application, removal, and care.
- Conduct preliminary visual field tests and screenings.
- Maintain accurate records of patient prescriptions, work orders, and financial transactions.
- Manage inventory of frames and accessories.
- Ensure a clean and organized workspace.
- Neutralize eyeglasses prior to patient examinations.
Additional Duties
- Welcome patients and visitors to the clinic.
- Answer phone calls promptly and courteously, directing inquiries as needed.
- Support front desk operations to ensure timely patient reception.
- Assist with clerical tasks related to patient records, insurance authorizations, and billing.
- Inform patients about costs associated with services and materials, collecting payments as required.
- Maintain knowledge of front desk operations to assist with scheduling and medical records.
- Understand third-party payer policies and documentation requirements.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations for visits.
- Update patient information accurately, including contact and insurance details.
- Create charts for new patients, ensuring proper labeling and tagging.
- Keep office supplies and forms organized for front desk activities.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
Certification: American Board of Opticianry Certification and Current Valid CPR Certification are mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years in a clinical or private office setting is preferred.
Skills: Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is advantageous. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications is expected.
Technical Skills: Proven experience in optical sales, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups are essential. Candidates should demonstrate initiative, possess strong analytical skills, and have experience with Electronic Health Records or similar software.
Physical and Mental Requirements: The role involves sitting, talking, and using hands for various tasks. The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds may be required. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.
