Cypress HCM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Chemist to join our team in a direct hire position. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for formulating and developing a variety of personal care products, cosmetics, and OTC products.
Key Responsibilities- Project Concept Development: Initiate project concepts, develop objectives, plan, and assign priorities, and complete multiple projects under minimal supervision.
- Research and Problem-Solving: Independently investigate and resolve research problems and scale-up issues.
- Customer Communication: Communicate with customers on technical aspects, regulatory requirements, and product performance.
- Regulatory Compliance: Utilize and follow relevant legal requirements, regulations, and product development standards.
- Cost Reduction: Determine and perform appropriate cost reductions (raw materials).
- Scale-Up and Troubleshooting: Scale-up approved formulations, identify critical process variables, troubleshoot production issues, and address batch variations.
- Product Specifications: Set product specifications and write compounding procedures.
- Pilot Batch Supervision: Supervise and coordinate pilot batches.
- Documentation: Provide paperwork for new formulas and new raw materials to operations.
- Quality Control: Provide specifications and other information to QC to receive and test new ingredients and finished goods.
- Research and Development: Research product formulations and properties, interactions of raw materials, and vendor research for raw materials.
- Training and Mentoring: Train, mentor, and supervise lab staff (permanent and temporary).
- Education: BS in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related sciences with 8+ years of formulating personal care products, or advanced degree in cosmetic chemistry and more than 6 years of experience.
- Skills: Advanced formulation skills and technical knowledge, thorough understanding of FDA regulations and cGMPs, ability to drive creative research and strategic recommendations for product development, and proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work cross-functionally and at all levels within the organization, exceptional attention to detail, high level of accuracy and organization, ability to work as part of a team and excel independently, and ability to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures.
Cypress HCM offers a competitive salary of $100 - $120K + bonuses, depending on skill set, and a dynamic work environment that fosters growth and development.
