Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Medical Laboratory Technician will perform quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on patient specimens according to standard laboratory formulas and procedures. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform laboratory tests and analyze results to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Prepare and determine the validity of solutions, reagents, media, stains, and other materials used in the testing process.
  • Process and test all types of laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
  • Review and report lab results to healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
  • Perform operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent.
  • Prefer 6 months to 1 year of medical laboratory technologist or clinical laboratory scientist experience in an acute care facility.
  • Required: Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS within 12 months of hire).
