The Department of Pharmaceutical Services at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) provides a comprehensive range of services for patients cared for by the Medical Center. Our team is committed to delivering safe, accurate, and timely preparation and distribution of drugs, as well as clinical pharmacy services for patients.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain medication histories and review medication profiles to ensure patient safety
- Provide drug information to patients and healthcare providers, and consult with prescribers to recommend drugs of choice
- Counsel patients on the proper use of medications and ensure they understand cautions, adverse reactions, and interactions related to their therapy
- Supervise pharmacy technicians to secure insurance authorizations for medications and prepare and dispense prescription medications and pharmaceutical products for patient care
- Must have graduated from an accredited school of pharmacy and possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) or equivalent degree as determined by the National Board of Pharmacy
- For graduates in a non-US country or jurisdiction, pharmacists must have earned a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certification as determined by the National Board of Pharmacy
- 2 years of experience as a Pharmacist in hospitals or healthcare, or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, or at least 3 years of equivalent experience in outpatient/specialty pharmacy services
- Experience with navigating billing options for pharmacist care
