QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Must hold a current Registered Nurse license in Michigan.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a hospital environment.
- Exhibits strong administrative and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to effectively guide and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and educational levels.
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills in alignment with Relationship Based Care (RBC) principles and Munson Medical Center's core values.
- Thorough understanding of nursing theories and practices, including the nursing process.
- Additional training in management and educational methodologies is advantageous.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports directly to the Admission Manager, with additional guidance from the Vice President of Patient Care Services and relevant Directors and Managers.
- Collaborates with nursing and non-nursing management across the organization.
- Adheres to established nursing, medical, and hospital policies and standards.
- Provides oversight, guidance, and support for nursing staff during assigned shifts.
PRACTICE STANDARDS
- Assessment: Monitors staffing patterns across inpatient units each shift.
- Identifies and addresses potential issues in the work environment.
- Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration for effective decision-making.
- Ensures patient-centered outcomes that respect cultural sensitivities.
- Utilizes data systems to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Planning: Supports unit-based nursing service initiatives and patient care strategies.
- Develops and reviews annual goals in alignment with administrative objectives.
- Evaluates crisis situations and coordinates necessary interventions.
- Implementation: Encourages staff involvement in resource allocation for patient care.
- Ensures proper protocols are followed for deceased patients.
- Assists in scheduling surgical and outpatient procedures.
- Facilitates patient transfers and room cleaning post-discharge.
- Evaluates shift operations for potential issues.
