Biomedical Equipment Technician II

Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician II to join our team. As a key member of our Biomedical Engineering Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective use of medical equipment and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the acquisition, installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment, ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine tasks associated with the Medical Equipment Management Plan, including troubleshooting, reading schematics, and understanding manufacturer user and maintenance manuals.
- Collaborate with the Biomedical Engineering Department to ensure the effective use of medical equipment and maintain a safe and efficient environment.
- Develop and implement procedures for the maintenance and repair of medical equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and training to staff members on the use and maintenance of medical equipment.
- 5+ years of related hospital experience, plus an Associate's Degree, or 3 years of related hospital experience, plus a Bachelor's Degree.
- Advanced knowledge of electronic theory, technology, and test equipment.
- Experience with IT/Server/Networking and Philips Monitoring System/Pic Ix and BD/Carefusion infusion pumps highly preferred.
- Ability to use manuals and other resources to solve problems.
- Advanced knowledge of medical equipment nomenclature and the types and uses of various medical equipment.
- Expert knowledge of basic hand tools and test equipment.
- Advanced knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology as applied to the use of biomedical equipment.
- Knowledge of current regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of the application of computers and servers and how they interface with medical equipment.
- Knowledge of networking and cybersecurity of medical equipment.
- Advanced ability to use computer software for reading and preparing documents and spreadsheets.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment, push/pull equipment carts, kneel, stand bend and reach during equipment repair.
- AAMI Credentials Institute (ACI) Certification for the Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of common clinical terminology as well as that of life sciences such as anatomy and physiology.
Children's Hospital Los Angeles offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $58,240.00-$100,464.00, based on education and experience. We also offer a robust benefits program, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
