Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new product development and/or change projects and/or programs for the business unit.
  • Monitor the execution of projects and programs at lower levels and cross-functionally.
  • Allocate resources to facilitate the attainment of project goals within established timelines and budgets.
  • Develop strategies to optimize all phases of the product development cycle to ensure design quality, compliance to regulatory and industry standards, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and new business development to identify market needs and set portfolio direction for the business unit.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new technologies and work directly with physicians to obtain product feedback and investigate current and future needs.
  • Ensure that customer feedback is applied to the design of new products.
  • Oversee the technical execution of projects and review and approve technical documentation to verify compliance to technical specifications and standards.
  • Provide technical advice when required and facilitate the resolution of complex technical and operational problems.
  • Promote innovation initiatives for new products and ideas.
  • Ensure that all assigned tasks and projects, and work output of direct reports, exhibit technical excellence.
  • Interact with Regulatory Agencies to support product filings.
  • Stay current on existing and emerging technologies and developments that affect the Company.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Attract, retain, and develop talent of the highest caliber.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to all assigned direct reports.
Requirements
  • BS in Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience, with 3+ years supervising or leading teams and a successful track record of attracting, retaining, and developing talent.
  • Prior experience as a product development engineer on a cross-functional core team, supporting new product development from concept to commercial launch.
  • Six Sigma Certification, MS or PhD Engineering, MBA, PMP, and medical device experience a plus.
