Substance Abuse Counselor I Position at Amity Foundation

About the Role:
Amity Foundation is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Registered / Certified Substance Abuse Counselor I to support our community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
- Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum, leading and participating in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic processes.
- Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectations for participation and completion.
- Work directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
- Review treatment plans, evaluate, and record treatment progress, noting visible changes in appearance, behavior, and demeanor of program participants.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records, evaluating and documenting the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
- Complete all delivery documentation requirements, summarizing participants' background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes.
- Prepare accurate, concise, informative reports, records, and plans consistent with Amity standards and comply with applicable clinical and administrative rules.
- Liaise with transition/reentry staff, preparing transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
- Collaborate with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS, and institution staff, supporting and collaborating with co-faculty, including Supervisors, Directors, and Regional Directors.
- Participate in monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum training, technical assistance training, or other training as appropriate.
Requirements:
- Less than one (1) year of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
- Current AOD Certification with an organization recognized by the DHCS or Registration with BBS or AOD Certifying body, depending on education level.
- Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse, appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of drug abuse.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
- Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS (preferred).
- Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior to maintain professional standards and safeguard participants.
- Protect and maintain program participants' health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
