About the Role

Southwest Concrete Paving Co. is seeking a skilled Site Grading Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our survey team, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of site survey for concrete pavement and associated base and subbase layers.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of surveying techniques, hardware, and software equipment, and be able to read and understand project plans and specifications. Training and furthering education will be provided, and the ideal candidate would have an interest in 3D model making software.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist with construction layout, existing topos, and as-built data;
  2. Plan and conduct ground surveys to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements;
  3. Establish survey control for use in construction projects;
  4. Assist Project Managers, Project Superintendents, and Project Engineers as required;
  5. Perform additional assignments as directed by Managers.
Requirements
  • Experience with Trimble, Topcon, or Leica software products is preferred but not required;
  • Ability to use Leica GPS and conventional surveying/layout equipment;
  • Knowledge of and working experience with basic equipment such as total stations, radio communicators, data collectors;
  • Computer skills involved in submittal of daily files, including downloading of data, preparation/organization of field data;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Software is required;
  • Knowledge of utilizing string-less 3D paving is preferred but not required.
