Position Overview:
The Cafe Service Associate plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer experiences. This position encompasses various operational tasks, including inventory management, sales processing, cash handling, and line service, all while ensuring a high standard of customer service. The individual must be versatile and prepared to assist in multiple roles such as cashier, cook, line server, and general utility support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process customer orders while preparing food items that require minimal cooking time, tailored to customer preferences.
  • Engage in food preparation activities, including assembling sandwiches, carving meats, preparing soups or salads, baking goods, and brewing beverages.
  • Oversee the setup, restocking, and breakdown of food preparation areas and equipment.
  • Restock kitchen supplies and ensure proper food rotation.
  • Handle customer payments accurately, providing receipts, refunds, or change as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized cash station, ensuring it is well-stocked with supplies.
  • Be open to additional tasks as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Management.
Qualifications:
  • High School education or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions, including menus and recipes.
  • Strong visual and communication skills.
  • Capability to document information accurately on culinary production sheets.
  • Familiarity with industry sanitation standards.
  • Willingness to be trained in various areas of the operation.
Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Frequent movement throughout the work area to complete tasks.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push weights up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods.
  • Regularly climb steps and withstand varying temperatures in food preparation areas.
  • Proficient in reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interaction with customers and team members.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential for fulfilling job responsibilities.
Equipment Utilized:
  • Standard commercial kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Cash register.
