The Sales Support Specialist will provide essential assistance to Sales Representatives and Buyers across various aspects of sales, procurement, and customer service, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of our processes at John Vena Inc. Responsibilities include collaborating with sales and marketing teams to distribute general and customer-specific pricing information and sales proposals. The role also involves coordinating transportation for outgoing produce orders, managing inventory procurement, entering data into our systems, and generating sales tickets and Bills of Lading.
Additional duties will encompass administrative tasks such as data collection and reporting, which may involve sales and expense tracking, as well as updating databases for current and potential customers. The Sales Support Specialist will also handle incoming calls, direct inquiries internally, and process customer orders when needed.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver exceptional customer service to both existing and prospective clients.
- Support the sales team by updating the ordering system with new orders and inventory additions.
- Prepare and manage shipping documents, including bills of lading and price confirmations.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of current price lists and sales proposals.
- Facilitate the procurement of additional inventory to meet customer demands as required.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales to gather data on internal sales and customer metrics, along with reporting on team projects.
- Manage incoming phone calls to represent John Vena, Inc. effectively.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for outbound orders.
- Stay informed about market conditions to address customer inquiries regarding product availability, pricing, and trends.
- Follow up with customers to ensure timely fulfillment, shipping, and delivery of orders.
- Provide support to other customer-facing roles, such as cashier and inventory control.
- Participate actively in sales meetings and marketing/customer events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to departmental needs.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent four-year degree is required; advanced degrees are a plus.
- One to three years of experience in sales or customer-facing roles, including internships, is preferred.
- Experience in the produce industry is advantageous.
- A strong desire to develop a customer-centric career in agribusiness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with all organizational levels, customers, and vendors.
- Capability to work collaboratively within a team or independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong foundational math skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications (Windows, Excel, Word, CRM systems).
- Meticulous attention to detail.
