Under the guidance of the School Leader, our educators are tasked with delivering impactful, high-quality instruction tailored to their subject areas, ensuring exceptional outcomes and comprehension among students. Teachers are expected to undertake additional responsibilities as needed to guarantee that every student achieves their learning goals. We believe in doing whatever it takes to foster student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design a comprehensive curriculum and lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Implement structured practice activities and repetitions as outlined by the curriculum or specialists.
- Establish a classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and is suitable for the developmental stages and interests of students.
- Supervise students during various school activities to maintain a safe and encouraging learning environment.
- Identify and address student concerns proactively.
- Utilize a range of teaching methods and educational resources aligned with best practices, subject knowledge, and the unique needs of student groups.
- Strive to embody the district's educational philosophy and instructional objectives through teaching and actions.
- Regularly use diagnostic assessment tools to evaluate each student's learning strengths and needs for targeted intervention or advancement.
- Ensure safety within the classroom and school environment for all students.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records as mandated by law and district policies.
- Support the administration in enforcing all policies and regulations governing student behavior and conduct.
- Be available to students and parents for educational discussions outside of regular instructional hours when necessary.
- Provide evening availability for addressing questions and concerns from students and parents regarding educational matters.
- Foster and enhance professional relationships with colleagues.
- Actively engage in all professional development opportunities.
- Carry out other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Dedication to working with underserved student populations (Required)
- Commitment to the development and design of the educational institution (Required)
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience (Preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Required)
- Master's Degree in Education, Teaching, or a related content area (Preferred)
- Proficiency in the subject area (Preferred)
- Experience in public school teaching (Preferred)
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of a criminal background check, both pre-employment and annually thereafter, if applicable. Must possess eligibility to work in the United States and provide necessary work authorization. Occasional travel to various KIPP Memphis campuses may be required.
