Job Title: Airplane Flight Instructor

Summary:

This position is for a highly skilled Airplane Flight Instructor who will administer combat flight training to military aircrews. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aviation and be able to effectively train and instruct others in the piloting of various aircraft.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer combat flight training to military aircrews
  • Conduct Initial Qualification Training (IQT) to qualify aircrews in basic aircraft flying duties
  • Conduct Mission Qualification Training (MQT) to achieve a basic level of competence in unit primary tasked missions
  • Train to maintain proficiency and improve aircrew capabilities to perform unit missions and aircrew proficiency sorties
  • Conduct Special Capability Training to qualify aircrews in positions beyond entry-level aircrew
  • Assess flight instructors, pilots, and other aircrew members to determine flying background and proficiency
  • Project unit training requirements
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of airplane systems and procedures
  • Brief and instruct preflight preparations, including intelligence briefings and mission planning
  • Serve as the Air Commander's representative in various roles, including Operations Supervisor, Supervisor of Flying, and Stand-by Duty Officer
  • Plan, organize, and direct the Standardization/Evaluation function
  • Prepare and administer written ground examinations and conduct flight evaluations
  • Train and evaluate proficiency and competency of aircrews in weapons and tactics
  • Design and coordinate comprehensive training plans and scenarios
  • Plan, develop, and implement the unit flying schedule and flying hour program
  • Develop unit deliberate planning for implementation of wartime and peacetime contingency plans
  • Plan, organize, and direct the Command-and-Control function
  • Plan, organize, and administer unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs
  • Serve as the Wing Commander's principal advisor and provide technical expertise on various programs
Requirements:
  • Military Grades: O-1 through O-5
  • AFSC 11M3
  • General Experience: One year of on-the-job experience in the grade (or a comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level
  • Specialized Experience: Two years of working experience in civilian aviation programs, military service aviation programs, or Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities

Education:

FAA Certification or equivalent Army

An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory

Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools
