- Educational Requirements: RN License (mandatory), Primary Source Verification (mandatory), AHA BLS (mandatory), AHA ACLS (mandatory), IV Certification (mandatory), CCRN (preferred), CRRT (preferred), ECHMO (preferred), TNCC (preferred), Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis (preferred).

- The Registered Nurse in the SICU operates within the ANA scope of practice, applying the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care, emphasizing patient-family centered care principles. The Clinical Nurse ensures high-quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge planning for patients and their families.
- Implements the Core Concepts of Patient- and Family-Centered Care (PFCC) in practice, tailoring care to meet the unique needs of each patient and family.
- Recognizes the influence of nursing care and patient-family partnerships on health outcomes.
- Collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan.
- Delivers quality care that meets or surpasses established standards of value, including core measures, quality metrics, patient experience, and fiscal responsibility.
- Provides assistance to individuals while considering their specific needs, including age-related and cultural factors.
- Understands the roles of the interdisciplinary team and appropriately utilizes patient and family care partners as resources in care planning.
- Delegates suitable tasks as necessary.
- Demonstrates proficiency in technical procedures and proper use of equipment.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation in patient records, developing educational strategies for patients and families, and recording this education appropriately.
