Position Title: Parts Operations Supervisor

Department: Parts & Accessories

Reports To: General Manager

Role Summary

Oversee the personnel and daily functions of the Parts & Accessories division. Deliver exceptional and knowledgeable service to clients; engage in cashiering, inventory management, and other tasks to ensure the department operates smoothly. Accurately identify part numbers specific to motorcycles and adeptly resolve complex customer inquiries in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain an efficient and well-organized Parts & Accessories department.
  • Ensure team members are adequately trained and accessible as required.
  • Meet the demands of the service department effectively.
  • Review inventory orders to maintain a balanced and fast-moving stock of Parts & Accessories.
  • Keep sufficient stock levels to meet customer demand while ensuring an acceptable inventory turnover ratio.
  • Provide coaching and training to staff as necessary.
  • Supervise and uphold an accurate and current inventory management system.
  • Become proficient with all aspects of the computer systems utilized for parts and service management.
  • Develop procedures for ordering, receiving, logging, displaying, and selling merchandise.
  • Ensure the department remains clean and organized.
  • Generate and analyze inventory and Open to Buy reports.
  • Stay informed about competitors' pricing, selection, customer service, and promotions.
  • Recruit and hire staff based on performance metrics.
  • Implement effective management practices to ensure the parts department meets profit objectives.
  • Maximize the return on investment for parts inventory.
  • Drive growth in Parts & Accessories sales.
  • Maintain budgeted revenue and expense targets.
  • Develop marketing and promotional strategies for merchandise.
  • Provide reports to the Dealer Principal or General Manager as needed.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to set monthly and annual departmental objectives.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on merchandising and inventory control practices.
  • Plan and execute innovative promotions to attract both new and returning customers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Duties
  • Establish work schedules for the department, balancing employee workloads with departmental needs.
  • Set policies and procedures for the Parts & Accessories department.
  • Assign daily tasks to sales staff as directed in team meetings.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on employee performance, maintaining records of reviews.
  • Keep the General Manager informed of employee performance issues.
  • Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and termination processes.
  • Provide training for all Parts & Accessories employees through seminars and workshops.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Strong sales and management skills.
  • Experience in retail sales and inventory oversight.
  • Prior experience in developing and mentoring a high-performing sales team.
  • Preferred knowledge of servicing motorcycles and related products, or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale and inventory management software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general email/internet usage.
  • Familiarity with Google Drive applications, including Google Sheets and Google Docs, is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use both hands effectively.
  • Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to balance and maneuver an 800+ lb motorcycle.
Work Environment
  • Typically loud work environment.
  • Potential exposure to battery acid, gasoline, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to exhaust fumes and airborne particles.
  • Frequent proximity to moving mechanical parts.
