A Typical Day

A typical day in this role might include:

  • Performing design calculations, preparing plans, and directing schematic designs for transportation projects.
  • Using advanced techniques, theory, precepts, and practices to deliver high-quality results.
  • Interacting with project leaders, team members, clients, and other consultants to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Exercising judgment in independently evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Working in a collaborative environment to achieve project goals.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Effective communication skills to engage with others.
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer.
  • 5+ years of experience with MicroStation, Geopak (or Open Roads), and transportation project management.

Bonus Points

If you have experience with:

  • MicroStation ORD.
  • Large-scale transportation projects.
  • Technical training.
  • Public hearings or meetings.
