Overview

Atrium Health Weight Management is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join its current team of 5 Bariatric Surgeons and 2 APPs. This is a unique opportunity to work in a leading community-focused academic healthcare system serving North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing bariatric and metabolic surgery, including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, and duodenal switch procedures.
  • Work closely with surgeons in the operating room, inpatient rounds, and call coverage.
  • Assist surgeons in performing complex surgical cases, including revisional bariatric surgery.
  • Provide inpatient care, including managing acute and chronically ill patients, and performing minimally to advanced invasive procedures.

Requirements

  • Three years of bariatric surgery experience and/or experience in a surgical specialty.
  • Experience as a first assist, ideally with laparoscopy, and management of immediately post-operative patients as inpatients.
  • Experience and confidence taking first call for a surgical service independently.
  • Must have or be eligible for a DEA license and approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of employment.
