Job Summary

To provide orthopedic support to Emergency Department Physicians or Residents and Orthopaedic Physicians or Residents. The ideal candidate will assist with splinting, casting, minor procedures, wound care, fabricated devices, immobilization devices, traction, and overhead frames.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain all orthopedic equipment and supplies.
  • Perform simple, non-sterile dressing changes on wounds.
  • Apply cast and splint under the direction of physician's orders.
  • Apply immobilization and mobilization devices to patients.
  • Apply skeletal and manual traction.
  • Ensure proper orders are completed using practice EMR.
  • Collaborate with clinical and medical staff to provide special order patient care supplies.
  • Apply and maintain orthopedic devices as ordered by physicians.
  • Meet work demand levels.
  • Participate in patient education with other healthcare providers.
  • Stock medical supplies and PPE as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
  • Orthopedic or clinical/medical experience preferred.
  • Completion of a Certified Orthopedic Technician certification from NBCOT or ASOP preferred.

Additional Information

Team members employed in this job prior to July 1, 2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. In addition, team members must be certification eligible and will have one year to obtain required certification(s).
