Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Engineer will be instrumental in developing quality systems, procedures, and controls to ensure that our products consistently meet performance and quality standards. This role requires a proactive leader who can effectively resolve quality issues with both internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality initiatives in new product development to ensure manufacturability and adherence to quality standards.
  • Establish critical quality specifications, control plans, and testing protocols to oversee all manufacturing processes.
  • Manage customer complaints by identifying root causes and coordinating timely resolutions.
  • Oversee the returned material process to ensure effective handling and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop and qualify new suppliers and raw materials, addressing quality issues promptly.
  • Educate and train team members to foster a strong quality culture within the organization.
  • Collaborate with top OEM customers to drive quality enhancements and achieve preferred supplier status.
  • Work alongside the Quality Manager to integrate Altra Business System tools into our quality processes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to drive change and improve processes through collaboration.
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in the 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Familiarity with quality principles in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and tools is advantageous.
  • US Citizenship or permanent residency is required for compliance purposes.
  • Experience with ISO/TS 9001/14001/16949 standards.
  • Experience with PPAP processes.
  • Experience working with tier 1 or tier 2 OEMs is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Experience with failure mode avoidance tools such as PFMEAs and related methodologies.
  • Ability to create comprehensive documentation detailing process execution and problem detection.
  • Capability to conduct data analysis and statistical assessments to identify root causes of quality issues.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant quality experience in a TS 16949 certified environment is essential.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.
