As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a crucial role in evaluating the cost of mechanical systems in projects and ensuring that our clients receive accurate and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the mechanical bid process, including general conditions, HVAC, process piping, and ducting, millwrighting, and structural steel.
- Perform cost comparison and analysis to ensure accurate estimates.
- Recruit and maintain relationships with quality trade contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Estimate the cost of all mechanical plans, including accurate quantity take-offs.
- Develop schedules and task durations to ensure timely project completion.
- Identify cost-saving techniques, materials, and procedures to optimize project costs.
- Monitor plan changes and estimate prices for all changes.
- Manage subcontractor solicitations as needed and draft subcontractor scopes of work.
- Read and understand Contract Drawings and Specifications to ensure accurate estimates.
- Maintain knowledge of competitive advantages in the industry to aid the bidding process.
- Assist with creating submittals and coordinate with project managers during the pre-construction phase.
- Communicate effectively with clients and manage a small staff.
- 5+ years of experience in a Estimating manager role.
- 10+ years of Plumbing Estimating experience for Multi-Family, Hospitality, High-Rise & Commercial.
- Experience with Quotesoft estimating software is a plus.
- 5+ years of construction experience preferred.
- Ability to travel to job sites as needed.
- Ability to work evenings or weekends if needed.
- Familiarity with blueprints and ability to read plans.
