Job Summary

To provide high-quality patient care, assess, treat, and solve problems, counsel, educate, and refer patients seen for primary or acute care in the clinic/related department, utilizing advanced assessment and evaluation techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess health status and health potential: plan, implement, and evaluate healthcare needs of the patient/family.
  • Plan, manage, and evaluate therapeutic regimens for patients, consulting with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Plan, teach, and counsel patients regarding current healthcare status and the signs and symptoms of illness.
  • Assess growth and development of the patient.
  • Perform clinical and therapeutic procedures.
  • Assume a leadership role in developing nursing care policies and procedures for the unit.
  • Assist with planning and monitoring quality improvement/control for the unit.
  • Perform history and physical examination, and record data.
  • Identify normal and abnormal findings, and consult as needed with physician to determine the plan of treatment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.

Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in:

  • Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs.
  • Knowledge of growth and development.
  • Understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patient.
Common Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and document all applicable required information.
  • Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker interactions.
  • Comply with the company's attendance policy.
  • Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution.
  • Perform work in a cost-effective manner.
  • Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Education and Credentials
  • Master's Degree (Required)
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required) Within 1 year of hire
  • Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hire
