About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as the Graduate Student Experience Coordinator for the Physics Department at the University of North Texas System. This role will provide administrative support for every aspect of the graduate student experience, from recruitment to admission to retention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend Graduate Committee meetings and communicate on behalf of the Graduate Committee Chair in their absence.
  • Coordinate updates to the graduate student handbook.
  • Regularly assist students in securing advising with the Graduate Advisor, advise students generally, and assist graduate student registration.
  • Submit Qualifying Examination Results (QER) to the Toulouse Graduate School once Ph.D. students pass their dissertation proposal.
  • Prepare degree plans for graduate students and monitor student progress according to department and graduate school requirements.
  • Interact with prospective students via email, over the phone, and in person that are interested in UNT and the Physics Departments graduate programs.
  • Represent the department at local and national recruiting events in order to promote UNT Physics and recruit graduate students.
  • Maintain all graduate student records, update active grad student email list for the department, and aid in gathering and compiling alumni data.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and one year of experience in recruiting, academic advising, counseling, student services, customer service or related experience.
  • Strong presentation skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to obtain credit card for travel.
  • Good driving record and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Professional in appearance, motivated, self-directed and have the ability and willingness to communicate enthusiastically with diverse populations in a positive, courteous and professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of higher education academic experience.
  • Strong organizational skills are highly desirable due to the complex coordination efforts required for this position.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard Monday-Friday schedule. The successful candidate will be required to work independently with limited supervision and have a strong ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
