Job Overview

These individuals are referred through various protective services due to concerns of abuse, neglect, delinquency, substance use, or other at-risk challenges.

Position Overview:

The Senior Youth Counselor is tasked with ensuring that the unique clinical requirements of each youth in assigned programs are effectively addressed. This role involves overseeing the delivery of therapeutic services through the creation, execution, and management of specialized interventions, which include screening, assessment, treatment planning, therapy, crisis management, and referrals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical services while incorporating the Personal Growth Model and Evidence-Based Practices.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of clinical needs for youth within the program and coordinate referrals to qualified providers.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that cater to the specific clinical needs of each youth, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual standards.
  • Maintain an active caseload of youth, fostering supportive relationships and effectively communicating progress with relevant parties.
  • Facilitate individual, group, family, and crisis counseling sessions.
  • Provide psycho-educational services, delinquency interventions, and clinical services utilizing Evidence-Based treatments.
  • Participate actively in treatment team discussions.
  • Employ innovative problem-solving techniques and creative therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of youth.
  • Adhere to professional conduct ethics and uphold the values of AMIkids.
  • Ensure timely submission of required reports and documentation while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Engage in all necessary training and professional development opportunities, maintaining appropriate certifications and licenses.
  • Complete crisis intervention and physical restraint training as mandated by state and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid certification from a nationally recognized organization.
  • Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related counseling field is preferred.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with electronic documentation systems is preferred.

State-Specific Licensure Requirements:

New Mexico:

  • Must possess a Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Professional Art Therapist (LPAT) - Provisional License is acceptable.
  • Must obtain and maintain a National Provider Identifier and Medicaid provider enrollment.
