Job Summary

By Light Professional IT Services LLC is seeking a highly skilled Telecommunications Switching and ISP Technician to support the Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC) and other communication systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telephone switching infrastructure, ISP requirements, and network operations and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative and operation and maintenance (O&M) functions and routines required for switching equipment, including local session controllers, voicemail, and telephone management systems.
  • Create and maintain maintenance logs, monitor alarms, and coordinate with Original Equipment Manufacturers to support switching equipment.
  • Provide reports on minor and major alarms, outages, and customer telephone requirements, including responding to service requests and isolating and repairing telephone troubles.
  • Process requests for moves, adds, and changes, maintain files for completed work requests, and collect, enter, and maintain customer billing data.
  • Support emergency work requests, input government telecommunication service requests into the E911 telephone company database, and participate in technical support to engineering design reviews and meetings.
  • Provide property accountability for accountable telecommunication equipment, perform remote switching unit and communication room cleanup and cable management, and support after-duty hour emergency maintenance requirements.
Requirements
  • Possess an associate's degree or higher.
  • Minimum of five years' experience supporting telephone switch infrastructure.
  • Qualified to support ISP requirements, including installation, operation, and maintenance of voice and infrastructure services.
  • Proficient in site safety, site surveys, blueprint reading, bonding and grounding, and firestopping practices.
  • Knowledge of I3A standards and procedures.
  • Able to interpret blueprints, troubleshoot Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) link/channel, and troubleshoot optical fiber channels.
  • Experienced on the testing and installation of CAT5/CAT6 cable.
  • User-level experience with Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Products, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Fluent in the spoken and written English language, including technical terms commonly used in information technology (IT), network routing and switching, telecommunications, IT maintenance, and technical control facilities.
