Job Title: Senior Manager/Director, Tax

At Wipfli, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager/Director, Tax to join our team. As a key member of our tax practice, you will be responsible for providing tax compliance and advisory services to pass-through entities and partnerships for a variety of clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide tax compliance and advisory services to pass-through entities and partnerships for a variety of clients.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team helping to provide industry knowledge and experiences.
  • Oversee a portfolio of clients of varying size and scope and act as the point of contact for internal and external clients.
  • Manage teams of tax professionals and assistants working on client projects.
  • Advise clients and be accountable for delivering high-quality tax service and advice.
  • Participate in and contribute to market and business activities external to the firm.
  • Research and consult on various tax matters, primarily in Sub-chapter K-Partnership taxation; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters.
  • Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities.
  • Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure deadlines are met, and enhance client relationships.
  • Manage risk and financial performance of engagements including billing, collections, and project budgets.
  • Team with other professionals to identify new marketplace opportunities and grow the complex fund tax practice.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10+ years of recent pass-through and partnership tax experience in an accounting firm, corporation, and/or law firm.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Licensed CPA, JD/LLM.
  • Prior experience with pass-through entities and partnerships.
  • Experience managing multiple client engagements and client service teams and managing timely deliverables.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills, partnership returns, joint venture and non-corporate entity tax returns and understanding of Sub-chapter K partnership taxation, is required.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
  • Experience mentoring and counseling staff-level team members.
  • Prior experience working with financial services and/or real estate clients, a plus.

  • Estimated pay range: $120,000 to $230,000.
