Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Onsite in Redmond, Washington

Contract Duration: 12 months

Estimated Salary: $82-$92 per hour

The role of the Mechanical Design Engineer III at Ursus Inc is pivotal in our team's success. As a key member, you will be responsible for researching and developing innovative ideas for new products and systems. This entails designing test prototypes and overseeing manufacturing processes to ensure seamless integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, manufacture, and assemble prototypes of soft wearable electronic devices
  • Apply sound engineering principles to develop Client sensor integrations in wearable electronics
  • Communicate effectively with vendors on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and manufacturing of designs for prototype builds
  • Work closely with researchers and engineers to rapidly prototype hardware solutions, iterate, and run experiments

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • 4+ years of experience in designing hardware prototypes, preferably in wearable consumer electronics or a similar field
  • Knowledge of the design process for high-volume consumer products from concept to manufacturing
  • Average or higher experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred)
  • Physical prototyping expertise
  • Experience with FPC/PCB design
  • Demonstrated experience with Design for injection molding and 3D printing

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of Camera integration, Sensor Integration, Elastomer design, Haptic devices, or Textile Manufacturing
  • Experience developing wearable consumer electronics
  • Hands-on prototyping with molding and casting of elastomers or industrial processes such as Liquid Injection Molding
  • Experience collaborating and communicating effectively on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
