The University of Florida is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Automation Specialist to join our team in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for developing innovative research programs in industrialized construction engineering (ICE) and advancing science and technologies in this rapidly evolving field.

Job Overview

We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in automation technologies, robotics, digital twins, and AI. Your expertise will help us push the boundaries of innovation in intelligent automation and construction industries, driving advancements in ICE and discovering new methods and applications.

You will work closely with a team of researchers and educators dedicated to shaping the future of ICE through cutting-edge technologies and practices. Collaboration and interdisciplinary cooperation will be key elements in achieving our goals.

In addition to contributing to our vibrant research environment, you will develop strong partnerships with industry to explore prototyping and testing of advanced technologies and practices in real-world applications.

Responsibilities
  • Developing a robust research program in ICE, including supervising graduate student research activities and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses;
  • Contributing to department service activities and collaborating with industry partners to advance knowledge and applications in ICE;
  • Pursuing research opportunities that align with our strategic priorities, including automation technologies, robotics, digital twins, and AI.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Ideal applicants should possess a strong background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Automation technologies for built environments;
  • Robotics and IoT applications for built environments;
  • Digital twin technologies for industrialized construction;
  • AI for integrated automated systems design in the context of built environments.
Benefits

The University of Florida offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Additional benefits include:
